| I don't know about the face, but yes, this was the best picture to choose from. It in no way reflects my feelings towards you dear reader! :) |
How Far Along? 24 weeks
Total Weight Gain? 15 pounds (I wore less layers this time!)
Maternity Clothes? Yep,
since 8 weeks this time around, but I haven’t outgrown them as quickly because
I haven’t gained as much weight.
Belly? In the words of my dear
sister-in-law, “Wow, you have a belly!”
Baby size? Like an ear of
corn, 8.5 inches, 1.5 pounds
Gender? It’s a
surprise! (I think girl. Danny thinks
boy, but he has started referring to her as her.)
Movement? Like
I’m raising a karate kid. Except for
last Sunday (23 weeks, 1 day). I
couldn’t get my counts in and the ones I felt were barely there. I tried cold juice. I tried all the “Get off me mom you’re
squishing me” positions. We prayed. We went to church. We prayed some more. We went grocery shopping. On the way home I called the clinic line and
the nurse said for peace of mind to go to the hospital Family Birthing Center. We went and I could barely check myself in
without breaking down. As soon as they
put the monitor on my belly the heartbeat popped up (it beats around 150) and
Raspberry started kicking the monitor off.
She then continued to kick at the monitor for the next half hour or so
that we were there. Danny could watch my
stomach moving. Apparently the trick is
to shoot sound waves at her to wake her up when nothing else will.
Sleep? Yes. I’m between classes so I can nap sometimes. I also have this itchy skin thing happening from the cold and pregnancy hormone combo and that sometimes wakes me up.
Cravings? Eggnog
lattes! Have to have them and they are
quickly disappearing! I can’t even find
eggnog in the stores so I’m going to have to start making my own. And yesterday I had to have French fries.
Aversions? None
that I can think of, but Danny did show me a picture of a pastrami hamburger
and pastrami did NOT sound that appealing.
Symptoms? I
still get sick if I don’t eat regularly. I run out of breath. And sometimes I just have to sleep—like right
then. I cry all the time too—it could be
pregnancy related.
Preparing
for birth? It is now after Christmas (although how it happened I’m not
sure!). The goal is to be done getting
ready for Raspberry by March in case of a debut like Josiah’s. I made a list of what needs to be done in the
nursery and in Josiah’s new room. It’s
like one of those square number puzzle games where you have to move a whole
bunch of stuff that has nothing to do with the project just to do the stuff you
want.
Labor signs? Possibly some Braxton
Hicks. I didn’t have them last time so
I’m not sure but sometimes there’s tightening and I have to take a minute to
breathe.
What I miss? Carrying
Josiah without getting tired and not itching from this weird rash all the
time. The doctor said it’s a
winter/preggo combo.
Best Moment this week? Taking Josiah sledding
at Mt. Bachelor with our family. Danny’s
brother is here from Hawaii which means Sheridan family reunion all week with
lots of fun stuff planned. But seeing
Josiah all bundled up in his snow clothes and pulling him on the sled with his
sheer delight was priceless. He loved
the dog sled that came in too. And then
on our way in, he fell asleep in the sled.
Too cute!
