Where is Justice?

conception was difficult
taking awhile
for JUSTICE to firmly take root
and then came the troublesome time
when JUSTICE was almost
washed away
purged

but JUSTICE prevailed
as has been known to happen
amongst
tears of relief
tears of unknowing
tears of rejoicing
JUSTICE continued to grow
taking over
encompassing every inch
healthy and thriving
JUSTICE reigned
as people looked forward
to the delivery of JUSTICE
the fulfillment of a divine promise

but then came the pain
doubt and worry
on it's heels
at the possibility
of JUSTICE coming prematurely
amongst
tears of fear
tears of unknowing
tears of trust

then nightmares
at the realization
that JUSTICE was gone
unmoving
yet still to be brought forth
but without ruling power
never to take the place
of setting captives free
of administering righteous verdicts
or extending mercy
amongst
tears of horror
tears of unknowing
tears of grief

knowing that
someday
JUSTUS will be restored
someday
JUSTUS will be seen
someday
JUSTUS will make sense
left holding
the promise
of someday
